Relationship Advice – 10 Quick Tips
-
Do not, I repeat, do not take each other for granted. That is a slippery slope….south.
-
Be mindful, every morning you wake up, to set an intention of how you want to show love and care to your partner and then actively show it.
-
Remember that you and your partner came from entirely different backgrounds, have entirely different experiences and see life through a very different set of lenses. Be open to listening to your partner’s thoughts and opinions.
-
Have fun – be fun – create fun.
-
Share in the load of domestic responsibilities.
-
Before saying something in anger, stop yourself and think through what and how you want to say something.
-
Be kind.
-
Seek help when there’s first sign of difficulty. Don’t wait. Problems are more difficult to repair, the longer they go on.
-
Work on your own development. Stop thinking that your marriage would be ideal “if only your partner would……” Ask yourself the following questions: “is there anything I can be doing to help the relationship?” “What is my role in the problems we are having?”
-
Do not assume you know what your partner is thinking or feeling. It is much wiser to ask – check it out – be curious.
Namaste,
Barbara
