Mother's Day -- A Poem

Mother’s Day

A Poem

She gave it away

She gave it all away

She delighted in small pleasures

  • Wind blowing in her face
  • Watching curling
  • Enjoying a crisp white wine
  • Engaging in a debate
  • Making lists
  • Selecting the perfect Vidalia onion
  • Winning every game of rummy
  • Winning big in scrabble
  • Enjoying a great game of bridge
  • Talking on the telephone (landline, that is)
  • Keeping a tidy house
  • Having a comfortable walking shoe
  • Having a stylish high heel shoe

She was a feminist thinker

She was a dancer

She was a thinker

She was a pragmatist

She did not like cut flowers because she didn’t like to watch them die

She understood adolescents

She loved her charm bracelet

She made the perfect perogy

She was intelligent and kind (a wicked combination)

She was fierce

She did not want to get too attached to the dog – loss would be painful

She loved deeply

She is missed
