Happy New Year 2017

Happy New Year 2017

I heard from more than one person that 2016 was an anxiety-provoking year.  Global events of a disastrous nature and illnesses seemed to be the order of the day for 2016.  Unfortunately, this has breeded a collective anxiety and fear.  The antidote to these feelings, however, is human resilience.

In our small corner of the world we can have a positive impact on our families and communities by being present to bring love and care to those we are in relationship with.  I don't think we should ever underestimate the positive influence we can have on our partners, children, friends, family, grandparents, colleagues and neighbors, when we are mindful of how we treat each other.

Take time to really listen to one another.  Take time to do something that will be of assistance to someone else.  Be grateful for those in your life who love and support you.  Everyone suffers in some way -- just be aware of this.  It is wise to think before you speak -- repairing relationships is difficult and words and actions do have an impact, both positively and negatively.

Reflect on what personal habits you have that you want to bring change to.  Maybe you are impatient and you want to cultivate patience.  Maybe you want to cultivate a sense of humor or cultivate being more adventurous.  Whatever it is, remember that you are fluid and changeable.

Here's to a fabulous 2017!
