Buddhist teacher, psychotherapist, yoga teacher, Michael Stone passes away

Buddhist teacher, psychotherapist, yoga teacher, Michael Stone passes away.

At age 42, Michael Stone, of Pender Island, BC, formerly from Toronto, who started the sangha called Centre of Gravity in Toronto (now called Gravity), passed away Monday, July 17, 2017.

I first met Michael at a workshop he was giving in Toronto many years ago.  He was teaching about the integration of mindfulness and meditation practice in therapy.  I vividly recall sitting at this workshop awestruck at his teachings and his brilliant mind - not to mention his compassionate and skilful way of engaging in relationships.  His thoughtful contemplation of words and how he was using language was refreshing. I have spent the following years, almost every day following his writings, podcasts, meditations and videos on his website, along with attending workshops given by him.  He has written many books and currently had a few underway.  I had been waiting eagerly to read his new books.  Michael taught around the world and led many retreats and workshops.  People love and respect him, but not in a cultish way.  He was a modern day teacher who so skilfully integrated Buddhist teachings, western psychology, philosophy and yoga tradition.  I was in awe of his intelligent, humorous and eloquent way of teaching.

I am at a loss for words.  On the heels of many other personal losses of people close to me in the past 7 years, this loss, too, is felt deep.  I am grateful for his teachings.

The following link is a number of his podcasts.  I would highly recommend listening to them, with no distractions.  I am happy to share this with you.
