A Holistic Approach to Stress Reduction – Workshop

Saturday, April 20, 2013:  10 am to 4 pm

 

I will be facilitating a one-day workshop on using various approaches to manage stress and anxiety.  What I am noticing in my work is that people’s stress levels and levels of anxiety seem to be at an all-time high.  There is an undeniable need to identify both external and internal stressors in order to understand and make change to our lives. 

Together, as a group, we will explore the following:

  1. What is stress?  Is it different from suffering?  How is stress and anxiety manifested in our body?  What happens to our central nervous system when we feel overwhelmed by life or when our sense of security feels threatened?
  2. Identification of external and internal stressors?
  3. How can we affect positive change in our lives?
  4. The role of mindfulness/awareness/paying attention in our lives.
  5. When we feel joy, what are we feeling?
  6. How fun and laughter can desensitize our nervous system.
  7. The role of healthy food.
  8. The importance of exercise.

I will also provide each participant with a CD of guided imagery for use for relaxation.
